Real Ale is a pleasure that no amount of fizzy beer can replace. It has flavour which the bland nitro keg beers do not have. It's good for you in moderation as its alive rather than the pasterised beers that are not. Always make sure you get the real thing, check for a handpump which is drawing the beer not just hitting an electric switch. Brewers that make real ale are craftsmen that try and make individual special brews that are worlds apart from the bland commercial industrial brewers.

CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) is an independent, voluntary, consumer organisation. Membership is open to all individuals, but corporate entities such as breweries and pubs are not members. The Campaign for Real Ale is governed by a voluntary unpaid national executive, elected by the membership. There is a small professional staff of fourteen responsible for central campaigning, research, administration of membership, sales and so forth.
